Deployment Engineer

About the Role: Deployment Engineer

The core responsibility of the Deployment Engineer is to work directly with customers to build out implementations of SVT’s SOFTBOT® Platform, which allows customer workflow management systems to interface with Robots and accomplish repetitive tasks. This involves software implementation, configuration, troubleshooting, training and runbook development for customers to be able to manage the system themselves after the consultant leaves with the system up and running.

Deployment engineers work side-by-side with solution architects, project managers, technical support and account management to ensure that each implementation project is executed as quickly and completely as practical.

You’ll need to be both very technical and a strong communicator – comfortable working through debugging communications between devices using HTTP, TCP/IP and GRPC. You’ll work with Linux, docker, and a litany of other technologies as you implement these solutions in customer environments. You’ll be measured on engagement, execution, quality of work product, customer satisfaction and utilization.

This role requires up to 35% travel (primarily in the United States).

A potential day in the life of SVT’s Deployment Engineer:  

  • Develop implementation plan for customer

  • Develop business validation success plan based on customer business outcomes

  • Remotely deploy and configure software to customer site

  • Drive software integration and validation

  • Develop system runbooks, train end users stakeholders on use and maintenance of systems

  • Assist customer and troubleshoot deployment during go-live, coordinating with solution architects and project management

  • Provide feedback and lessons learned to cross-functional leadership at the close of engagement

You can be successful in this role if you have:   

  • 2+ years customer-facing project delivery experience
  • 2+ years of software implementation experience
  • Demonstrated experience developing business success plans with customers
  • Demonstrated experience administering Linux and docker
  • Demonstrable experience writing Transact-SQL queries
  • Knowledge of common REST API troubleshooting methodologies
  • Knowledge of common network terminology and connectivity troubleshooting techniques
  • Experience troubleshooting system communication issues
  • Experience in creating implementation reports and ROI studies using business metrics
  • Outstanding work ethic, organizational and communication (oral and written) skills
  • Knowledge of business best practices, issues faced, and operations
  • Experience working in a matrix responsibility environment
  • Domain knowledge and experience in warehousing, distribution, software systems integration or manufacturing automation
  • A desire to work with a multitude of customers in a variety of locations
  • The ability to work both remotely and in an office-based team environment
  • A can-do attitude
