Top leaders in the nonprofit industry will take the spotlight at the third session of the Women Impact Virginia virtual series on Aug. 25. Abby Verdillo Hamilton, president and chief operating officer of the United Way of Roanoke Valley, and Jennifer Thomas, executive director of Virginia Association of Museums in Richmond will deliver the keynote addresses during the half-day session.
This free series is aimed at engaging, connecting and inspiring women who want to impact their communities. Join us as we explore topics of leadership, communication, mentorship, empowerment and more.
Held from 9 a.m. to noon, this virtual event will also feature a Hokie Highlight showcasing the expansive Virginia Tech partnerships and initiatives impacting the nonprofit industry in the commonwealth including remarks from:

Julie Walters-Steele, director of the Reynolds Homestead, which includes a Community Engagement Center, the historic home and other buildings of the former Rock Spring Plantation, as well as the Creative Arts Center in Stuart, Virginia.

Tonya Price, Ph.D., serves as an associate professor and 4-H specialist at Virginia Tech specializing in teen leadership and development, healthy living, and character education. She grew up in the Virginia 4-H program and has been employed with Virginia Cooperative Extension since 2000.

Sara Steinert Borella, Ph.D, serves as the new executive director of the Steger Center for International Scholarship in Riva San Vitale, Switzerland. In this role, she works at the Steger Center to develop collaborative opportunities for global education programs, faculty workshops, community engagement, alumni reunions, and institutional networking.

Meanwhile, several Fast Track speakers will provide a 5-minute overview of their business/organization and how they are addressing board and membership management, volunteerism and stakeholder engagement, and financial management and fundraising.
