Session 14: HEALTH LITERACY – The missing piece of the puzzle

Tuesday, Dec 14, 2021, 12-1pm EST

Led by Thomas M. Chamberlain, PharmD, Founder and CEO of EdLogics

Eventbrite Registration at: https://edlogicshealthliteracy.eventbrite.com

EdLogics was founded to help employers improve the health of their employees and reduce their healthcare costs by engaging and motivating them to learn about important health issues and become better informed healthcare decision-makers. Through interactive health games, multimedia educational programs, innovative gamification strategies, and rewards for educational achievement, The EdLogics Platform™ delivers a personalized user experience that uniquely educates individuals on common and costly health conditions and the challenges of navigating the healthcare system. The platform provides trustworthy evidence-based health information, improves health literacy, and empowers consumers to take greater responsibility for managing their health.

Since low health literacy impacts 90 million Americans and costs the U.S. economy as much as $238 billion annually, EdLogics partnered with Global Action Platform and other Hampton Roads based non-profit organizations to establish Healthier757, a community-wide public health literacy initiative designed to improve the health and economic prosperity of our region. With input from the Healtheir757 Steering Committee, EdLogics created Rewards for Healthy Living, a game-based educational resource which is made available for free to all Hampton Roads citizens. The primary objectives of Healthier757 and Rewards for Healthy Living are to:

1) establish Hampton Roads as one of the most health literate regions in the nation

2) increase community-wide awareness and knowledge of key health issues

3) increase health equity by eliminating health disparities and addressing social determinants of health

4) promote economic development in our region through a healthier and more productive workforce

During this session, you will learn how Healthier757 and Rewards for Healthy Living can significantly bolster our existing public health capabilities, serve as a critical differentiator for our region, and address regionalization challenges by connecting the Hampton Roads municipalities, aligning the collective efforts of each city around a common health and wellness strategy, and promoting consistent and targeted educational initiatives in a coordinated approach. An open Q&A session will be available to ensure that everyone understands the opportunities brought by Healthier757.
