The AFWERX SBIR/STTR Open Topic allows the small business to submit a proposal that has a clear Air Force or Space Force stakeholder need addressed. As the small business essentially writes the topic, it is imperative that there is a deep understanding of the needs of the agency stakeholder. The number 1 AFWERX Evaluation Criteria is “Potential for Commercialization.” One-Half of the first 12 slides in the Technical Volume Slide Deck address commercialization. Some key elements of your commercialization strategy will be covered in this webinar, including “how to”:
  • Identify and validate a path to commercial sector sales
  • Quantify and validate commercial sales potential
  • Identify an Air Force Program of Record User who needs your solution and is willing to be specifically referenced in the proposal
  • State a clear understanding of their needs and expected benefits—user and organization
  • Show your knowledge of the acquisition process and identify the first step(s)
  • Highlight your team’s ability to commercialize technology—what resources will you need to fill any gaps
  • Describe your plan to transition your solution into the AF
The AFWERX Open Topics close August 9, 2022. More details on the AFWERX Open Topic opportunities may be found here: https://www.dodsbirsttr.mil/submissions/login
